My artwork draws on inspiration from my love of animals and focusing on movement and empathy for the subject.
I build my work up by using a fairly thin nib and form a series of dots, this process takes the form of tone and shade.
A visit to Haydon in Northumberland, while walking I saw my first hare, stretched out like a cat, enjoying the sun, then another running towards me like a dog returning to their owner, amazing!
I enjoy looking at the innocence, beauty and intricacy of nature and the feelings that they create, so to be able to capture a hint of it, is WONDERFUL!

Hare Prints by Chris Thorn
Chris has a background in science and engineering, and has been engaged in X-ray of safety critical engineering assemblies for many years typically in aerospace, nuclear and defence applications. Chris has always had an interest in wildlife and filled many sketchbooks on his travels. Now retired Chris devotes time to sketching, particularly of hares and other small mammals. He also uses low level X-rays to make pictures of flowers and plants.
"The Brown Hare is simply my most favourite creature on the planet. They are rarely seen in Cornwall, in fact I have travelled extensively in the region over the last fifteen years and have never been fortunate enough to see one.
Many well-intentioned people have pointed me in the direction of hare sightings, but unfortunately all (so far) have been rabbits. I regularly advise others seeking hares in Cornwall to keep any sightings to themselves as (if they should exist somewhere) they can be left to establish and develop larger communities.
The work of the HPT is to be encouraged in their aim to protect and enhance the hare population and promote greater awareness of this wonderful animal"

The sketches below are created using a fountain pen and wet brush technique, with a colour wash added digitally. They are high grade giclee prints using long life inks on 315gsm soft-texture archival water-colour quality paper. Each print is studied for perfection and approved before signing. Image size approx 10cm to 12cm on 14cm square paper. Prints will fit in a 12cm x 12cm mount. This size looks really good in a 10" square frame. Hare Prints by Eleanor Ludgate
Eleanor Ludgate has been a proffessional artist since 1974 and her paintings hang in collections all over the world. Painting in both oil and watercolour her work is well known for its fine detail. Being inspired by nature Eleanor has a particular affinity to Hares and the amazing history of the Three Hares Symbol which she has re-created in her own way in some of her paintings.
A keen conservationist Eleanor is concerned about the decline of Brown Hares and hopes through the sale of her work to be able to contribute to the Hare Preservation Trust and their good cause. She has her own website devonsnatureinart and Etsy shop.

Suzanne has been a full-time professional artist for nearly 20 years. She lives on the North Downs in Kent, and although her studio overlooks the countryside, she has not yet spotted a hare! She specialises in Cats, Guinea Pigs and other small animals in a variety of styles and media. She also produces hand-painted jewellery and other decorative items such as hand-painted lamps, mirrors and boxes. This lovely print is limited to 200. It has been taken from Suzanne's original mixed media painting/embroidery on linen fabric.
It features a beautiful wild Hare, who is alert and ready to flee at a moment's notice. Suzanne painted the original on a linen-mix fabric, in a mixture of acrylic and watercolour washes, and the attractive weave of the fabric can be seen in this print. She also used gold thread embroidery for the foreground details, with rocaille beadwork. Photography was used to produce this print, as the shadows cast by the beads could be replicated, giving the print a 3-dimensional effect.
The actual print measures 14 1/4 inches x 8 1/2 inches, and it is numbered, signed and named below the image. The copyright watermark is for display purposes only and does not appear on the print.
A margin has been left all around the print to allow you to mount and frame it. Your print will be sent in a postal tube. On receiving your print, it should be removed from the tube to allow it to flatten. When framing, remember that a wide mount in a large frame will always make a print even more impressive, and Suzanne would recommend a frame measuring at least 22 x 16 inches.

This large and eye-catching, signed, un-mounted print has been taken from Suzanne's acrylic ACEO painting on recycled Elephant Poo paper. The print has been dramatically enlarged to take advantage of the fibrous texture of the original.
It features a close-up of a wild, European Brown Hare. Suzanne named the painting Wild Thing due to the un-tamed look in his eye - he looks like he could take flight at any moment!
The print measures approx. 9 7/8 x 7 1/8 inches, and it is signed, numbered and named directly underneath the image. There is a border around the print to allow for mounting. It is printed on 210gsm card for easy, non-wrinkle, mounting and framing.
For mounting and framing, Suzanne suggests a frame at least 16 x 12 inches with an off-white, or ivory mount. A new mount can be cut to your specified size at any framing shop. Prints look far more impressive mounted in a generous mount, with a relatively thin frame.
Your print will be sent rolled in a sturdy postal tube in a cellophane wrapper to protect it. It is recommended that the print is from the tube as soon as possible to allow it to re-flatten.

Kim has been vegan for over 20 years and is passionate about all living creatures. Her beliefs spill over into her designs, so that not only are all her creations vegan suitable, many have wording or pictures to promote veganism and a compassionate way of life. She keeps two blogs, which have a lot of vegan related articles on them, one being itsvegan blog where she writes reviews of vegan products and services, and the other midnightrabbits blog which is her online journal about her life and loves in her vegan world. She has two online shops where she sells her handmade products - Midnight Rabbits has handmade bags and accessories with 100% of the profits donated to animal charities and her other shop - Veganessa has handmade brooches and bags where everything is vegan suitable.

Annette lives in Scotland not far from many hares. She has been selling her handmade art in her etsy shop The Leverets Nest for 5 years now and manages the HPT online shop in her spare time. A textile ornament of a real-size baby hare to display fondly in your home.
Pleasure loves to paint. On her first day in kindergarten she found herself ensconced happily in the corner dabbling away with the watercolours and my, my, did she not produce a wonderfully colourful painting of splotches and dabs and blops! Her mama was delighted when her tiny leveret proudly handed over the wrinkled and colourful paper with a big smile. And over time it was the first of endless painted gifts to adorn the walls and when there is no more room then they go into the scrap books that mama had ready just for that very occasion! Pleasures painting style has come on quite a bit after that first colour explosion. At first she was comfortable with her unplanned placement of colour and shape but the more she dabbed away the more she wanted to have a modicum of control, so her paintings now show an amalgamation of hues inside a border. For one so free with her input she constrains her expressions within a well defined boundary and that has given Pleasure much satisfaction. Mama asked her what she liked to paint, as she glanced at one of the masterpieces, colours hodge-splodged here and there all over the paper, and Pleasure bleated straight away - the summer meadow flowers ofcourse, can't you tell? and she furrowed her brow as she observed mama smiling nicely at the work of art. And then mama enquired as to why there now borders in all of the paintings? And Pleasure furrowed her brow some, then looking up at mama, pouted that she didn't know. She only knew that an edge must be there, otherwise she gets an itchy, unsettled, slightly tizzled feeling. Had she not already told mama about the time the other week when she went back to kindergarten after class was finished, only to dig out her day's work and put a boundary around each one? Pleasure has decided to have her first show. She doesn't want to make a big deal about it but wants it to be a visceral experience for the visitors so she will integrate the paintings with the subject matter - the meadow flowers. She has already planned the layout and will begin her installation in a few days time. She will scatter her works willy nilly amongst the blooms and offer the viewers fresh carrot juice for refreshment and rosemary sprigs to nibble. She hopes it will be a big success as long as it doesn't rain. She has her paws crossed.
Pleasure is looking forward to curling up on your armchair by the window with her paint pot and papers. She likes to relax as she works and she needs good light as well, that is absolutely essential. And leave the window open a little too thanks because she will be going out every day to show mama her latest work. Mama has been her biggest fan and collector, or em, receiver of her art. Because it's been a case of Pleasure giving mama all her paintings whether mama has wanted them or not. That's been awfully magnanimous of mama infact because now that Pleasure has been dabbling for some time she realizes that not everyone has the same taste in art. Anyway, now that Pleasure lives with you, there will be no excuse not to have your fridge door covered in her Van Goghs. What do you mean you like a minimalist fridge door? That's rubbish, fridge doors are white for a reason, so don't be silly. So, Pleasure would like a fresh pot of water every morning, for her paints of course. Though you are welcome to leave her a glass of carrot juice too, and em, don't say anything if you are watching her paint away and see her take a sip of the dirty paint water instead of the carrot juice because with every working artist comes a forgetfulness of which vessel carries what, whether it is steaming hot tea, iced cold lemonade or dirty paint water. Mind you Pleasure has found that the blue paint tastes the best, but no need to tell anyone. And besides, a goodnight kiss from her furry blue stained lips really is so much tastier.
Pleasure has been machine and hand sewn by me and has many 'unique' (imperfect, handmade) bits. However, she is not recommended for very young children who like to suck and chew on things and is not a toy. She is made from a scrap of thrifted flowery cotton and has a polyfill stuffing along with a full stomach of dandelion leaves (only joking!).

She also wants you to know that baby hares are called leverets
