If you find leverets alone in fields and apparently abandoned, please be aware that the mother will return at dusk to feed her offspring. Children, especially, should realise that leverets must not be disturbed unless they are clearly in immediate danger. Leverets can be hand reared, as described on this website, but this should only be attempted if the natural maternal process has clearly broken down.
